Phil Beer is the multi-instrumental half of the west countryʼs award winning acoustic duo, Show of Hands. He has played music all of his life and been a professional musician since 1975. In that 36 years, he has played in too many bands and line ups to list fully and lost count of the number of record projects he has been involved in. The most notable sessions in his career range from the Rolling Stones album Steel Wheels and Mike Oldfields live album Exposed to albums by the The Albion Band with whom he toured for the best part of the ʼ80ʼs, not forgetting the large catalogue of Show of Hands albums.

In recent years, he has been in demand as a record producer as well as a studio musician and he continues to tour full time with Show of Hands. In addition to this heavy schedule, he also finds time to play a limited number of solo shows and is currently engaged in producing a major new solo studio album, his first for several years. His most recent accolade is the Spiral Earth Award for Best Musician, 2011.

Phil is also a keen sailor and achieved a lifetime ambition by completing an entire Tall Ships race in 2009.

How do you describe a Phil Beer performance?
Fun, eccentric, informative with the constant sounds of jaws hitting the floor. Phil could coax a beautiful tune from a length of clothes-line. Not only that, but his gigs really do have something for everyone; trad tunes mixed with covers of Springsteen, The Hollies, his own compositions and songs from his contemporaries.

Songs and music of memory and significance sung in the subtle and melodic Phil Beer style and interjected with musings and amusings to an almost personal audience. A treat of past and current favourites from one of the most popular musicians on the acoustic circuit.
