Since 2009, Wicker Bones have been bringing folk music to the people. They began as a ballad band who secured a number of residencies in venues around Dublin and Kildare and they have gone on to perform at nearly every major festival in Ireland as well as festivals in UK and the Netherlands, garnering great response.

They play a combination of traditional and original material and they have recorded a debut EP 'The Martry Sessions' with Tony O'Brien of Empty Riff Productions. This was released at The Mercantile, Dublin in October 2011 to a packed house.  The recording has been described as 'raw and powerful'.

In 2011, Wicker Bones became the first Irish band to perform at the World Culture Festival, Louyang, China and will play another festival in Shanghai in 2012.

It is through their own compositions and original arrangements that they have both carried on the tradition of Irish folk and explored new avenues of expression utilising more contemporary techniques such as unconventional keys, dissonance and poly rhythmic juxtapositions. They have impressed audiences throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe with their own unique brand of Irish music.

Wicker Bones are currently working on original material for their first album which is to be recorded and released in 2012.
