Straight from his appearance at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, vocalist and pianist Theo Jackson visits Chapel Arts on his first UK tour.  His performances combine his own original songs which take inspiration from the timeless writing of Duke Ellington and Stevie Wonder, together with familiar jazz standards from the likes of Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane and Charlie Parker.

Equally comfortable whether deliberating over the delicate lines of an emotional ballad or improvising fluent bop vocal solos, Theo's energetic and engaging performance style has seen him quickly become a recognisable figure at many of London’s most prestigious venues.

Accompanied by his regular rhythm section with Shane Allessio on double-bass and Jason Reeve on drums, there'll be a lot of fun on stage with constant interaction between these three exciting young musicians.

At the beginning of 2012 Theo released his debut album, Jericho. It features nine original songs and was launched at a sold-out date at the Pizza Express Jazz Club in London. His emotional, thoughtful and intelligent songs were picked up by the British publishing giant Splash Point, where they take their place alongside those of Ian Shaw, Liane Carroll and Claire Martin.

Since then Theo has continued to go from strength to strength with appearances at The Royal Albert Hall’s Late Night Jazz Series and a headlining show at an international jazz festival in New Zealand. He has also performed live on Jazz FM, launched a collaborative project with multi award-winning saxophonist Nathaniel Facey, and opened a concert for Yellowjackets legend Bob Mintzer.

Theo gratefully acknowledges the support of Jazz Services Ltd and Arts Council England.
